This Friday, April 22 is Earth Day around the world, the one amongst (hopefully) the many days of the year we鈥檙e all mindful of environment issues and our collective impact on the planet. Although, of course, you should be thinking about your own actions and the changes you can make to your own lifestyle to positively benefit your surroundings, but Earth Day is also a time to celebrate nature, being outside, and being with friends.

And in that spirit, boutique hotel, hosts 鈥溾, their yearly outdoor concert featuring (mostly) unplugged musicians performing in the bamboo environs of Moganshan (about 4 hours drive from Shanghai).

香港六合彩资料网 talked to one of the organizers, Jasmine Wallsmith about for a bit more insight on the event. Unfortunately, naked Retreats is booked solid for the weekend for the concert, although if you鈥檇 still like to attend, you can get , and check out availability at and .

Can you talk about the venue? It鈥檚 an outdoor concert, is that right?

Jasmine: Yes, the concert will be held on the reservoir at the base of our village. Set against the tea fields and the bamboo forest, the reservoir is particularly beautiful at dusk. We are going to have the musicians perform on the pagoda in the center of the reservoir. Guests can sit on the shores and enjoy the music throughout the evening with a glass of champagne or our house special Mojito. We are using mostly torches and candles to light the event and we鈥檒l have a bonfire to keep everyone cozy throughout the night.

Can you introduce the musical acts for this year鈥檚 naked by Candlelight? And it鈥檚 an acoustic concert? Or mostly acoustic?

Jasmine: In honor of Earth Day on Friday, we are making the concert mostly acoustic. To use minimal electricity we have the bands using just a few mics where necessary and then the rest will all be au natural.

Opening the night will be the dynamic duo of Dana Shellmire (vocalist of Shanghai's blues band "The Soulcasters") and Vladimir Legay (guitarist of Shanghai's reggae band "Lions of Puxi") bringing joyful melodies, deep grooves, urban global culture, and conversational lyrics. Next up, is the American-Mongolian group, China Train, featuring folk-country-bluegrass style songs from the East and West, with acoustic guitar, fiddle, banjo and rich harmonies. The return-act, My Way (a portion of Jammala), was such a success at the last concert, we are bringing them back to do it again! With their earthy, energetic acoustic percussion, they are sure to get everyone up and dancing.

How was the last naked by Candlelight? What was that one like? Did you get a good turn-out?

Jasmine: The general feedback we had from the audience, musicians and even from our own staff was that it was an amazing experience! This was not really our doing, but simply a wining blend of a fantastic backdrop, a great bunch of people, wonderful weather, and great music. Not much can go wrong when you have such a combination.

At our last event, people came out for the whole weekend to enjoy not only the music on Saturday, but to hike, BBQ, and explore Moganshan in the spring weather. We had a great turn out last time, with about 100 people, keeping to the desired cozy atmosphere. Aside from the naked Retreats guests, we had some walk-ins from another part of the mountain who heard about us through the grape vine and came by. Some local villagers and their children also joined in and in the end it turned into a bit of a festival. With the musicians jamming away, at one point in the night, almost every single person was on their feet and dancing!

What sorts of crowd are you expecting this year?

Jasmine: naked Retreats was booked out over a month in advance in anticipation of the show. We have everyone from couples, to families, to a houseful of young expats ready for a celebratory weekend. We also have some locals from Hangzhou and some Moganshan natives will inevitably attend the show again. Basically, we are expecting the same kind of fun loving, nature thirsty folks again.

So the event is hosted by naked Retreats. What鈥檚 the news with naked Retreats? Any significant changes or expansions in the last little while?

Jasmine: The big news around naked these days is the opening of our second property this fall, naked Stables Reserve. This new property will have its soft opening starting in August with the official opening in October of this year. The retreat will feature 121 rooms in 70 individual tree top villas and rammed earth rondavels, signature restaurants, a wellness centre, conference facilities, fully equipped and of course stables with horse fields overlooking the tea plantations. With seasonal food, wine, music and cultural festivals to match our award winning facilities, our goal is to provide to our friends and family a rich and sustainable 鈥榥aked鈥 lifestyle throughout the year.

We are also targeting to be the first LEED Platinum accredited resort of its size in Asia, a testament to our commitment to sustainable design, building and operations. Twenty-two of our 鈥榯ree top villas鈥 will be available to distinguishing buyers for their own use.

Official sales will commence in May 2011, however we are now taking expressions of interest. If you would like more information on our new project, whether as a future guest, partner or investor, please email: info@nakedretreats.cn

How about Moganshan in general. Have there been new recent deployments in the area?

Jasmine: There is a lot of development in Moganshan these days. Many hotels have been built in the surrounding area and it is returning to the popular tourist destination it was 100 years ago. From restaurants to hiking trails, hotels to guided tours, Moganshan is really starting to bustle. The good news in that while the majority of the crowds head to the top of the mountain, naked Retreats is located in a side valley where the big tour buses can鈥檛 fit, keeping us a bit more secluded and private.

So naked Retreats is already fully booked for the concert?

Jasmine: Yes, due to the popularity of the event, we are fully booked at naked Retreats for the weekend. There are still a few tickets available to the concert left, so if people would like to book at other hotels in the area, they are welcome to come enjoy the music and BBQ Saturday night at the retreat.

What sorts of things should people be mindful of before heading down for the show? Anything they should bring or leave at home?

Jasmine: We鈥檝e checked the weather forecast and it looks like it鈥檚 going to be beautiful spring weather. That said, people should still bring some layers for the chilly nights, a pair of good walking shoes for tromping around the retreat and of course their best dance moves.

Any suggestions for how people in Shanghai should spend Earth Day if they鈥檙e unable to make the concert?

Jasmine: While we should consider the earth in our actions every day, Earth Day is a particularly good time to reevaluate your lifestyle and make little changes. Maybe take the day to replace all the light bulbs in your house with low-energy ones. Or take the opportunity to buy that bike you鈥檝e been wanting so you can take less cabs (and get more exercise too!). At the very least, pack a picnic and get outside with friends to enjoy the warm weather and the end of winter in Shanghai.
