After missing last year, on account of the whole general state of the world thing, JZ Spring, the smaller brother of the annual JZ Festival, returns to Jing'an Park this weekend. It starts on Friday, which is International Jazz Day, but with an invitation-only opening concert. Both Saturday and Sunday are free and open to everyone. Open-air festivals in Shanghai are rare and free festivals are even rarer, so with both the sun out and the May holiday here, this is something to put on the agenda.

It's a family-friendly affair with activities for all ages, such as games, interactive music areas and live street performances. There will be after-parties every evening at all the venues that belong to the JZ empire:  JZ Club, Jazz Café Wooden Box and JZ LIVE. The parties at Wooden Box and JZ LIVE are free, whereas JZ Club does have a cover charge; cheaper if you buy in advance.

Free and perfect for the warm weather, so come and check it out! The Saturday and Sunday shows in the park will last from 10am to 8pm. Jazzzzzz. Man, Z is a crazy letter, huh. Here’s the schedule:
