If you haven’t had the opportunity to check out the new Museum of Art Pudong, hey, it just got easier to do so. SmartTicket is handling entry tickets to all their events. They’re currently showing three worthy exhibitions: “Joan Miro - Women, Birs, Songs”; “Light: Works from Tate’s Collection”; and “Cai Guo-Qiang: Odyssey and Homecoming”.

Opened just this year, the Museum of Art Pudong was designed by famous French architect Jean Nouvel, and is massive, covering six floors with 13 exhibition halls as well as a rooftop terrace — a real destination for even casual fans of Chinese contemporary and international art.

Current Exhibition Highlights:

Museum of Art Pudong is presenting Cai Guo-Qiang's solo exhibition - Odyssey and Homecoming from Jul 8, 2021 to Mar 7, 2022, who is China's go-to guy for creating massive and elaborate fireworks spectacles. He emerged on the international stage after heading up the fireworks shows for the opening and closing ceremonies of the 2008 Beijing Olympics. The gallery showcases 538 fireworks projects in 218 cities in 50 countries around the world, along with 101 projects that he didn't get to pull off.

One of the three opening shows at Museum of Art Pudong, Light: Works from Tate's Collections (Jul 8, 2021 to Nov 28, 2021) is a cross-genre exhibition in collaboration with Tate Modern in the UK, showcasing the usage and development of light and shadow in modern painting. The show starts with a mesmerizing teaser "Ophelia" by British artist John Everett Millais on the ground floor and continues on the third floor, where you will find Olafur Eliasson's 2014 dazzling hanging sculpture "Starlight Particle" as well as pieces by Claude Monet, John Martin, and Anish Kapoor.

One of the three opening shows at Museum of Art Pudong, Joan Miró: Women·Birds·Stars (Jul 8, 2021 to Jan 3, 2022) is a collection of artworks in lush, lively, bold block colors that will forever evoke the spirit of Barcelona. More than 60 art pieces by the Spanish painter are on display, making this debut show in China a visual feast for all Miró fans, as well as kids — who might also be excited to appreciate these lovely drawings that happen to look a lot like theirs. (No shade against the Spanish master intended.)
