Some shocking and sad news to round out your Tuesday.  Two of The Bund’s most iconic and defining F&B venues — M on the Bund and Glam — have announced via press release that they will cease operations in February 2022, after more than 20 years of service.

The press release quotes owner Michelle Garnaut AO, founder and CEO of M Restaurant Group:

“It has been a terrific journey. I am, and will forever be, enormously proud of what my team and I have achieved together. We have hit all the high notes, consistently delivering quality and excellent food, creating lasting memories and spectacular experiences, and building friendships with our guests and business partners over the years.

This is a bittersweet and difficult decision to make, however I think it is the right moment for me to gracefully step down, begin a new chapter and pursue other interests.

M on the Bund, Glam, Shanghai and China have been a very large part of my life. Something of them will remain in my very essence. But restaurants belong to the people they serve, and in the end it is the memories that remain. I am proud to have left an indelible mark on this city and this community.”

Don’t think anyone would argue that.

In preparation for the final departure, the team at M on the Bund and Glam are planning to create a memory photo album. Diners are invited to share their memorable moments at the restaurants to memories@m-onthebund.com, or bring the pictures along when they visit.

Regular service will continue until 15 February, 2022. Reservations may be made via the official website, Chope and Dianping.
