Tim Sweeney says: So I thought for my top five I would go with a little theme, and what better theme than love? So these are my top five love songs right now.
Dinosaur - "Kiss Me Again"
TS: "One of many Arthur Russell productions that I could listen to over and over again on a deserted island and still not get bored. Here Russell is in full-on disco mood, similar to his work on Loose Joints 'It's All Over My Face.' All you need is David Mancuso playing this at 'The Loft' and you've got my perfect dream."
Gino Soccio - "Love Is"
TS: "Gino Soccio is one of my favorite Canadian producers. He's also super mysterious, which I love too. He made some huge disco hits back in the late '70s and then disappeared. Wax Poetics magazine finally found him for the first interview with him in decades, but he still wouldn't say what he was doing now or where he was."
Eurythmics - "Take Me To Your Heart"
TS: "This song is from their first album 'In The Garden' from 1981. I have this problem where I have to pick up every Conny Plank production I find, because I think he's one of the greatest producers of all time, and when I stumbled on this one I almost cried. Conny Plank produced it and they have members of Can playing with them! There couldn't be anything more perfect."
Taana Gardner - "Heartbeat"
TS: "Certified New York disco classic! Mixed by Larry Levan, the other super producer who I have to pick up every one of his productions I find as well. This song fills New York dance floors for any type of crowd."
Ike & Tina Turner - "Whole Lotta Love"
TS: "Ike and Tina covering Led Zeppelin. The intensity on this one is palpable. You can just imagine them performing this on stage and hearts everywhere melting."
