Geraldine Brooks will be at Glamour Bar June 26

Last night the reopened officially at one floor below the former location. The original venue will focus entirely on dining, bidding a fond farewell to its stage. We didn't get a chance to go last night, but we definitely believe them when they say it's a step up from the former Glamour Bar. The designers of the new, larger space comment "Our new Glamour Bar won't be a replica of the Glamour Room, but you'll be able to tell they are siblings." Among the promised features will be more wines available by the glass, new bar menu with more cocktail options, and a Champagne Bar.

The Glamour Bar has created some of the more worthwhile cultural events from mostly Australian talent all under the "Live at Glamour Bar" title - caberet, jazz, author readings, piano, the 2006 etc. From as far back as we remember the cover has never more than 50rmb on any afternoon or evening, making live performances easily accessible, in beautiful surroundings.

A heavy line-up of various live performances are due for this upcoming week, and no doubt will continue in July and beyond. Something surprising is the addition of DJs into the mix. Does this mark a growing acceptance of disc jockeys into upscale bars? Tonight (Sunday 25th June) we'll be able to see how well it can really work - DJ "Mr. Geoffrey" is set to blend an eclectic mix of music ranging from lounge to film score to introduce the new Glamour Bar.
