The original Minhang Museum was opened in 2002 and closed in 2011. Its new location currently has one permanent display of traditional Chinese musical instruments and a temporary exhibition area. Multimedia interactions installations, as well as English translations, are provided. The Chinese musical instruments gallery is especially worth visiting. The collections cover a wide range of exquisite or oftentimes uncanny ancient instruments from different ethnic groups in China. The second floor is under construction. It will be dedicated to the 700-hundred-year history of Shanghai, with one area focuses on Maqiao civilization. It's going to be three times as large as the first floor. Minhang Museum closes during Chinese New Year will be reopened in June when the second floor is ready. No entry fee required.
