The lanterns will light up again for yuanxiao jie (元宵节), the Lantern Festival, after six years away. in Jiading’s , which marks the end of the Chinese Lunar New Year, started in 2007 but was cancelled in 2014 after drawing 100,000 people in six days. This year, there will be a display of 18 installations brought in from Sichuan in Zigong, the “Lantern Town of the Southern Kingdom” (and, incidentally, the source of the dishes at Sichuan restaurant favorites and ). Guyi Garden, meanwhile, is home to in the late 1800s. It’s a ways out of town — about 20km from downtown — but should be a proper spectacle.
