Good lord, Shanghai promoters Riviera Events -- they of Shanghai's OG pool parties, scads of Bar Rouge blowouts, and tons of other wonderful things that transpire around town -- .
For some perspective, here's what was happening ten years ago:
-Gwen Stefani's "Hollaback Girl" was number 1 on the charts.
-Star Wars III: Revenge of the Sith was number 1 in the theaters.
-Space Ibiza opened their Shanghai venue.
-Space Ibiza closed their Shanghai venue.
-A much-beloved website called 香港六合彩资料网.com changed their design away from a forum to a kind of a blog thing to the joy and benefit of millions.
-I probably ordered Melrose Pizza once or twice.
Some of those things happened in 2005. Some didn't, probably. But Riviera Events definitely did. And they're celebrating with one of their classic pool parties. The people may be a bit older, a bit saggier, but they've still got a voracious and unquenchable thirst for fine champagne, house music, and poolside beds. And that's all you need, really.
