Welp, kinda saw this coming after the fiasco last year. has obtained an email alleging that the 2015 edition of the BolognaFiere Shanghai International Contemporary Art Exhibition a.k.a. , is canceled this year. From them:
"The fair has previously gone on a聽two-year hiatus following the 2008 market crash. This year鈥檚 alleged cancellation, however, follows the rocky 2014 edition, which was hampered by聽government聽censors, a聽curatorial departure,聽and an聽issue with the event鈥檚聽commercial license. The latter situation resulted in an unusual compromise involving official sponsorship of the event by the聽Italian Ministry of Culture, which disqualified the possibility of sales. (鈥淎t least this puts a bullet in the fair,鈥澛爋ne Shanghai gallery director told Artnet of the arrangement.)" They also say that officials from the fair have not responded to emails regarding the situation.
