Story time: Back in spring I heard an urgent meowing outside my compound. It was still cold as hell, and the thing sounded like it was dying, so I looked around -- a half-starved kitten was trapped in the motor of a car. I took it home, fed it, took it to the vet, named it, bought a litter box and toys for it, fell in love with it, and so on. It took three days for my brain to inform me: You idiot, you can't raise a cat!

That's breaking rule #1 of being a responsible rescuer. Long story short, Second Chance Animal Aid (SCAA) LUCKILY had an open spot in their foster network and was able to take the kitty in. Sadaharu was adopted by a loving family the next week at SCAA's adoption event. with several adorable pets that also need homes. This is where you come in.

SCAA's adoption events usually happen at . But that's currently under renovation, so it's been moved to their , running from 1pm to 3pm on Sunday. SCAA will have 20 cats and 6 dogs up for adoption and fostering. Their foster network has around 30 homes, so yes, even if you plan to move out of the country eventually, you can still provide some love and care for an animal while you're in Shanghai. Please note, if you ever find yourself in the situation described above, don't be an irresponsible fool like me. There are no official animal shelters in China, and organizations like SCAA and others, generally won't have the resources to help you. If you want to do something good, be prepared to do it all the way, whether that's providing a home yourself or taking care of it until you can find someone else to take it in.

Sadaharu Also, SCAA is Ïã¸ÛÁùºÏ²Ê×ÊÁÏÍø's charity partner this month. If you find yourself planning to go to any of , please consider adding a 10rmb donation to SCAA in your order. As you can see, they do good work.
