It's the Being John Michelin edition. Thankfully, there's a bunch of other stuff happening, so I don't have to write about it! A non-Eataly opened up, a new Beer Lady is spotted, is closing tomorrow, is shuttered after a short run, Dagu's got it's terraces back, just in time for rain, and a raft of anniversaries, parties and... oh, and 's party got postponed. Bummer. So much stuff!

Now Open

Shanghai"

and have both reopened in new digs. Check out what we thought about them ! In a bit of the old copyright tomfoolery we love to read about on Shanghaiist, a small restaurant and bar called has opened up on Wulumuqi Lu. It has nothing to do with world famous Italian food market , apart from the Italian-ish looking food. Hyuck hyuck. Dagu's terraces have been unshackled. You may remember some about noise complaints from residents in the ivory towers over Dagu Lu getting every terrace stripped bare. They've now sprung up again, in time for the weather to turn for the "stand indoors anyways." Try and keep it down this time so the whole street doesn't get Yongkang'd. Beer bar/oversized food stall has reopened after a couple days renovation. New doors, new aircon, some new windows... still looks much the same. They're currently packed out with people related to the happening this weekend.

Casualties

Following up on our , Bund (ex)stalwart is shut as of September 23. That's tomorrow. Land reclamation. Hope you got your last reservations in. They'll be re-opening across the river in the near future, they say. Pour one out. Shanghai"

And keep pouring, because multi-storey Wuyuan Lu newcomer closes after barely, what, 6 months operation. Jesus. We asked them to comment.

Yes unfortunately it is true that our restaurant is closed. We had to close it because it is not profitable enough to sustain the business, so we had no choice. We are currently looking for our next restaurant opportunity...

Jesus. Halt the presses. Actual honesty. No "unforeseeable circumstances," no "circumstances beyond our control." Put that on their gravemarker. "At least they were honest." Let's see what they do next.

The Word Around Town

Evidently opening a by Suzhou Creek? That woman's unstoppable. Looks like it'll be opening soon, too. Maybe Morgan'll take another crack at that . Thank God no one else nicked that idea yet. A bit of news on the Shanghai Daily announced that the city's going to be setting up .

To stimulate a more orderly Shanghai evening culture, the city’s commission of commerce said this month that it will build up several demonstration zones to promote “nightlife in Shanghai."

That sounds like it'll be fantastic. Shanghai's nightlife is best when it's orderly. Found 158's already been designated as one such demonstration zone. Which says a lot.

Anniversaries, Postponements and Cheap Booze

Turning the ripe old age of 1, is having an anniversary . Free grilled cheeses for an hour, lots of beer and booze deals. Huzzah!

Shanghai"

Turning the ripe old age of 20 holy effing years old is holding a on. Bouncy castle, discounted beers, and a BBQ brunch. Truly the Sasha's way! The word "congratulations" isn't strong enough. All the are doing . Yes. All of them. On Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Yup. YUP. got postponed, unfortunately. That's now taking place on October 29 instead. Hope the weather's still good enough for an Ibiza-themed party then. And, finally, . Peace out, Shanghai, enjoy your weekend.
