Hey Shanghai. If you're not already on the way to Dragon Burn, you might want to hear how I totally effed up last week; was actually open after all. Also, trio of news, a 's been replaced, 's (probably?) closing (??), 's doing new ice cream and is turning back into Windows Underground. Details after the jump.

Now Open

First off, we tried out even more things than usual this week; healthy eatery in IAPM, mad burger alchemy at , surf'n'turf bistro and cocktail/retiree home (just kidding) . You can read about it .

has opened up on Maoming Bei Lu, where it looks like they've got beer pong. Lots of beer pong.

opened on Wulumuqi Zhong Lu a minute ago. It's already getting popular on the Chinese internets. It looks like it's slinging fusion food of a copious variety, scones, burger things, desserts, you name it. It's got an ice-cream cart out front.

on Dingxi lu is open again. The Goose people (praise Goose) held a boat party last week, where they played a commercial on one of the Pudong buildings.

Finally, La Bota on Dagu was actually open after all, and continues to be so. Mea culpa, Shanghai. Mea culpa.

Now Closed

Healthy eatery slash yoga rooftop has closed to the public as they pivot towards becoming more of a membership club thing. You can get in touch with them to see about joining the select group of individuals allowed up onto that terrace. It's a fantastic terrace.

Classy fancy eatery Xin Cafe on Jiangning Lu closed down. It's been replaced by a new spot called Un Caffe Bar, which is part cafe, part cocktail bar.

One opens, one closes, as is the way of things. That in/near Tianzifang is closed until June 9 for renovations (no quotation marks). Meanwhile, the in Jing'an will be closing from June 9 to June 12 for more renovations (no quotation marks).

Word Around Town

is closing on May 31. Possibly. Morgan's been on it, he wrote about that , check it out. Seems like this might be your last weekend to go check it out.

Hot in from Ice Cream Correspondent Morgan; the Popolo group (, ) is launching an ice-cream brand called Il Buco on June 12. They're bringing on board famous Sicilian Master Gelato Man Salvatore Naselli. Look for a little window inside Gemma with real authentic Italian gelatto, and Gelato Man Naselli himself will be in the shop from June 12 to June 18.

The word is that the big Windows Garage re/opening party that was planned for this weekend has been cancelled. Again. Hey, our man on the streets, what's this "Windows Garage/Underground" thing anyway?

The old Windows on Nanjing Lu that used to , and it used to be popping and great hiphop there, dance battles 'n shiz... Then they moved up to street level and became Windows Garage. After that it never quite became the same thing, and it was just old people eating cheap food and playing pool, so they're moving back down. Was supposed to happen last week, and was delayed until this weekend, and now its delayed again. Word on the street is its still missing a proper fire exit.
