When and co. opened on the busy corner of Fumin Lu and Changle Lu in 2008, business was popping almost immediately. Back then, Shanghai had few options for simple Mexican food, but flash forward eight years and we've got a lot more choices.
Instead of trying to compete with all that, Ms. Lee wisely recognized the most valuable thing about Cantina Agave was its location, and decided to bring in a new chef from Mexico City, do some remodeling, and replace the burritos and quesadillas with upscale tapas and shared dishes.
