We live in a city where finding imported Belgian beer is much, much easier than locating an IPA. Even Carrefour and mom and pop stores in the FFC have bottles of Duvel and Chimay on deck, not to mention the long-trusted Kaiba. A new Belgian beer bar opened up a few weeks ago in the Kerry Cente down in Jing'an - is there anything special about this place? If you're looking for a bar to hash out some sourcing contracts while sipping Leffe Brune on draft, yes, it's a fine spot.

Tongren Lu has certainly changed over the years. What used to be a horrorshow scene of hookers tugging on the waistline of many a confused, drunken Westerner is now home to the opulent Kerry Hotel and nicer watering holes like this one. Leuven Beer Cafe, named after the home to the world's biggest beer company ‪Anheuser-Busch InBev‬, feels quite masculine, European, and classic. Subtle castle vibes mixed with a bit of corporate flavor. Well, it is a chain.

Surprisingly, they don't have a huge beer selection, but that's ok. While CityShop has about fifty different Belgian beers, Leuven has four drafts and some bottles. They're all tasty, and you don't need to waste time figuring out the difference between Trippels, Dubbels, and Lambics. Like dark beer? Get the Brune.
