If someone asked where to have a drink in Tianzifang, I'd say for sure. Standing strong for eight years, it's the most consistently good option in that tourist hive, with a solid , thin crust pizzas, and some of the best jiaozi in Shanghai. They've finally opened , on Fumin Lu between Changle and Julu. While much smaller and still working out some kinks, it retains the books, the chill vibes, and charm of the original.

Unlike the four-story original, this Bell occupies just one floor, housing six tables, some plants, a tall bookshelf-ish bar, and a long table with half the seats outside. Decor is exposed brick and foundation with touches of wood, plus mirrors to create the illusion of size. Like the original, Bell II is comfortable enough to spend several hours in. Perfect for a date. Sound is surprisingly decent, with tasteful jazz and chill selections played at an appropriate volume.
