As Brother Sacco already introduced Fatima Al Qadiri's vibes , I'll keep this intro short. Qadiri is a New York-based visual artist, much hyped producer, member of the rad alt-bass supergroup alongside Nguzunguzu and J-Cush. People with actual have covered her schtick pretty well, so click-through there to learn the basics on her rather hard-to-pin-down aesthetic.

Qadiri's debut album, 2014's , is a highly synthesized, hyper-Chinese (in the sense that it's meta- or non-Chinese) album of vaporized grime. I think it's technically , which is a fake genre of music that invented in 2005. In other interviews, she's said that the album is about "imagined China" in the collective Western consciousness, which is funny because she herself has never been to China. That changes on , when she breezes through town for a one-off gig with select members of the Sub-Culture crew.
