Running for six days and nights of live music from September 27 to October 2, in Kunshan, the international Montreux Jazz Festival from Switzerland makes its highly anticipated China return with a huge line-up of talent. 30 Bands consisting of more than 140 Musicians from 20 countries are performing on 4 stages at the idyllic Fairmont Yangcheng Lake Resort, before and during the Golden Week holidays. Highlighted artists include former Blood, Sweat, and Tears, and Miles Davis guitarist, Mike Stern, two-time Grammy nominee Gretchen Parlato, eight-piece jazz ensemble KOKOROKO, and many more.

First launched in 1967 on the shores of Lake Geneva, with its 57-year history, the Montreux Jazz Festival has hosted the biggest names in contemporary rock and jazz music, including legendary artists like Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd, and Frank Zappa.

Artist Highlights

Mike Stern

Mike Stern is an American jazz guitarist, formerly of Blood, Sweat & Tears, and also with drummer Billy Cobham and Miles Davis. In his solo career, he's released more than a dozen critically acclaimed albums.

Stern was named Best Jazz Guitarist of 1993 by Guitar Player magazine. At the Festival International de Jazz de Montréal in June 2007, he was given the Miles Davis Award, which was created to recognize internationally acclaimed jazz artists whose work has contributed significantly to the renewal of the genre. In 2009 Stern was listed on Down Beat's list of 75 best jazz guitarists of all time. He's performing for the first time in China at Montreaux.


Gretchen Parlato

Gretchen Parlato is an American jazz singer and two-time Grammy nominee. She has performed and recorded with musicians such as Wayne Shorter, Herbie Hancock, Kenny Barron, Esperanza Spalding, and more.

Her album Parlato's Flor, released in 2021, received a Grammy Award Nomination for Best Jazz Vocal Album, hitting No. 1 upon release in iTunes Jazz and #3 Best of the Year Albums in Jazzwise Critics Poll '21. She is known for her mesmerizing, dream-like voice, and slow-burning intensity. Her performances deal in hypnotic grooves and rhythmic sophistication.


Talie Monin

A standout vocalist since her earliest days growing up in Johannesburg, South Africa, Talie Monin, (Nqobile Mchunu in her native Zulu) won numerous local singing contests and was deeply inspired by the contemporary jazz music her parents, aunts, and uncles surrounded her with. More recently Talie Monin gave a sensational command performance at the Nelson Mandela 100th Centenary Celebrations held in Beijing, China. She also headlined at the Hong Kong International Jazz Festival in October 2018. Impossible to pigeonhole, Talie Monin offers a compelling blend of African-inspired music along with carefully selected contemporary tunes, plus a great many original compositions that make an immediate positive on listeners.


Dirty Loops

Dirty Loops is a band from Stockholm, Sweden, made up of Jonah Nilsson (keyboards and lead vocals), Henrik Linder (bass and backing vocals) and Aron Mellergård (drums and backing vocals). Their arrangements borrow from jazz and jazz fusion, gospel, funk, electronica, pop, and disco. They are known for their jazz fusion reharmonized covers of pop songs like "Baby" by Justin Bieber, "Rolling in the Deep" by Adele, and "Wake Me Up" by Avicii. Kokoroko


KOKOROKO

KOKOROKO is a London-based eight-piece musical group led by Sheila Maurice-Grey, playing a fusion of jazz and Afrobeat. In February 2019 they were named "ones to watch" by The Guardian, after the release of their track "Abusey Junction" garnered 23 million views on YouTube. In February 2020 they won Best Group at the Urban Music Awards. In September 2020 they played BBC Proms at the Royal Albert Hall. They released their debut album Could We Be More in August 2022

Tickets: Regular Tickets are priced from 468rmb to 628rmb, and VIP tickets are priced from 880rmb to 1280rmb for single-day entry.
